I agree. I had a set of the originals that I posted for sale a couple years ago. I wanted $700 and did get my price but it took a couple months waiting on a buyer.
Don't tell that to my Cragars, my raised white letter tires, and my Flock of Seagulls cassette in the deck.
Louvers are still in. They took months to sell at 700$! If they were 200-250$ a set they would sell often enough to be worthwhile.
while there's not many things that I would disagree with you about.. this would be one comment that I would have to go against. I know enough Ford.. "I just gotta finish it off with slat's now".. fools out there to easily hit that mark. These fastback designs also lend themselves well to them and they just look "right", IMHO. And I've met at least 10 guys around the streets, shows, and strips through the years that openly envy those Mustang/Torino guys louvar's too. BTW, I paid $900 for nearly mint louvars for my Torino GT almost 15 years ago. So, yeah.. there are plenty of fools like me out there who are waiting to part with their hard earned cash just to put those finishing touches on their cars.
if it strictly revolves around what's posted here.. and only here?.. then I'm afraid you're right. Fortunately.. I get out of the house a bit more often into the real world and base my opinions off of that experience. And from that.. I know for fact that could sell a few of them myself at $299. But.. I am in sales.. so that probably gives me a different perspective on the matter too. You should keep in mind.. that just because there are many budget builds here.. doesn't mean that all other econo-musclecar owners are as cheap as you think they are. And they're not all posting their opinions here either.
Lol! Do you think we all sit in the basement all day? This is the largest Maverick/Comet community in the world, if someone isn't on here, they probably know someone that is. As for being in sales, I also sell for a living, and I've learned for experience when I'm wasting my time, and I sell stuff a lot more expensive than car parts. I don't think anyone's "cheap" , but I've learned that most people have these cars because they get one for a great deal, or they just can't afford a high dollar muscle car, and there is nothing wrong with that. Owning a Maverick for 25 years, I've been around them enough.
well.. we'll just have to see how things pan out then. Because regardless of how much you.. or I.. think we know?.. it's all just pure speculation until you, I, or someone else builds them and shows what they will do for sales volume. Realistically.. who's going to injection mold up a set and offer them for $299 so that they can even make profit.. and then get past the trunk opening limitation hurdles anyways.
Hey.....I would be the first guy in line to buy a set of louvers...if they were out there. Even at $299...I would buy a set. But since I also sell a lot of Maverick parts, (new, used, and reproduction) I don't think enough would sell to ever justify getting them made. At $299....I don't see enought guys stepping up. No more than 50-75 sold at that price. Just my opinion. :Handshake
