Usually, you have to choose between the Power Tour and Carlisle because they conflict, area wise. This year, however, they are close to each other during part of the Tour, at least.

I am considering tagging the Tour in Birmingham, Al on Wed, June 5th, and continuing on to Chattanooga, Tn on Thurs, June 6th, then instead of continuing on to NC, going to Carlisle for the Ford Nationals instead. The Nationals are Fri-Sun, June 7-9. It would make an awesome road trip. Anybody interested?

I am planning on meeting the tour in Birmingham and riding with them to Chattanooga. Should be a neat ride, and a lot of fun. Don't know if I'll go any farther.
You taking the Stang or a Cougar or the Mav?

Hey guys, it's been a while since I was last here and check in today to find a thread on the Power Tour! My wife and I have done the long haul since 2008 and have a lot of fun. I have met others from this forum on the trip over the years and if possible would like to hook up with any of you wanting to make the drive. I always say it is the coolest thing I have done with cars because we drive them, a long ways to the car show! There are other threads from previous tours on here, check them out....

I am planning on taking the Dk Aqua '69 XR7 conv if it is ready. I am currently converting it to a toploader 4spd and new a/c. Last time on the Power Tour in 2011, it was 103 degrees when we pulled into Montgomery, Al. The sanden compressor went out on the gold Stang conv and we were cooking. Don't want a repeat!

The Power Tour is 5-6000 cars cruising in bunches from cities to cities with meets at designated cities. Fantastic experience that you need to do at least once in your lifetime. It is a total mix of different makes and models tearing up the road together.

That's the trouble with working for a living. It's sure gets in the way of having fun sometimes. I am lucky that I am retired and only work part-time. Makes it easier to get away. See what you can do, Ken. It will be fun, for sure!!

Maybe I'll be coming out of Memphis that day and can get in on the tour. :biglaugh: Or coming back south out of Chattanooga and see it that way. Last time, I was coming south out of Nashville and got to see a bunch of cars.

Even self employed, it's hard to just take off. Hope to take off and go to Tupelo for the Blue Suede Cruise this year. Had to miss it last year.

The Power Tour has become our summer vacation; we just plan time off around that trip. Jim I saw your post about the A/C and I am jealous. My Maverick has no A/C and we cooked on last year’s trip. This year the trip is all in the south and still no A/C....every motel we stay in has to have a pool! For those that cannot do the whole trip you should at least hook up for a day or two and experience it. That is how we started our first couple of years, doing a couple of days when it was close to Minnesota, after that we long hauled. What a blast, the best part is the drive through parts of the country I wouldn't have a reason to go to, this allows us to see sights I would otherwise miss.
