New front spoilers to be made????

I know there is another thread going on right now about front spoilers. But since I am looking for and hoping to have some made for the Maverick community I decided to start a new thread.

I have been emailing back and forth with a guy named Randy that has a small family owned and run company that makes metal front spoilers for many different applications.

I purchased one of his "pro touring" style 1969 Camaro spoilers for my custom made lower valance. I am sure most of you would not want the pro touring style with the relief in it. And that is fine, if you look at his web site the vast majority of his spoilers don't come that way anyway. I would suggest that he just makes a stock, non pro touring type for the Mavericks.

Here is what I purchased from him:



His valances come painted semi gloss black. The Camaro spoiler bolted right up to the stock holes in the bottom of the Camaro valance. A perfect fit! I am not sure if it would be that easy for the Maverick valance as I don't remember if there were already holes there for him to mount of off. Worst case scenario as far as I can tell guys might have to drill a couple mounting holes.

So the bottom line in all of this is, do you guys want this to be made? If so, we need someone to step up and send Randy a good lower front valance for him to make a spoiler off of. He will return it to you. If someone doesn't do this, they will never be made, period. I would gladly send one, but the one I had was damaged so I cut it up to make the one I have now.


I don't feel as though I need to say this, but I am going to anyway. I am getting nothing from this personally. Other than the satisfaction of knowing that I helped the Maverick community get one more part manufactured for our cars. I am not running a stock valance so I don't need a spoiler for my car. I am just trying to help everyone else. No more, no less.

Any interest?

I think it would be a hard sell at those prices for most of us.

I have a valance, it has some issues, but if no one in the USA will give one up, I'll gladly fix mine, and send it to him.

 

I actually prefer the style you went with there(although it seems a bit too narrow for my taste on these particular cars.. and I also love the Camaro style valance as well) and thought about doing a similar "one off" by either mod'ing a Mustang version.. or trying/mod'ing another make like you did too.

I've also thought about doing a sectional 3 piece that has the two wrap-arounds with a deflector style chin section out front in the middle(overlapped slightly between.. and in front.. of the 2 sides). Kind of like this design for the trans am.


but with the seperation between them to look similar to the Mustang II's spoiler like this..

If you don't you mind me asking?.. what did you pay for that one?.. and around about what do you think he will want for the one piece's similar to Mustang's and what everyone else is using around here?

IOW, will they be similar in pricing to the others listed on his site?.. and can he modify an existing design to better fit your taste if need be? Or is it just a.. "what he decides to make is what we get" sorta thing?

 

I looked through the site and thought the prices were reasonable. I don't have an extra valence to send and mine is being sent to paint next month. I'm in though if I can think of what color I could paint it to look good on a sprint. Maybe white or blue? Anyways, thanks for doing all the leg work on this.

 

The pro touring style was more money, I think $250. But if you look at his web site, most of them sell for $120-150. I am shocked some of you would have a hard time spending $120, or maybe a little more, for a steel spoiler for our cars. I have no idea what he would/will charge. I am now ending my involvement with this. As I said, I don;t need one. I am just trying to open the door to have something else made for our cars.

Considering most of his spoilers are priced at $120, is that really more than many of you would spend? A reproduction Mustang piece costs all of that and it will need to be modified to fit. This would be a direct bolt on.

PLEASE don't get so easily offended here, bud. There are some really cheap folks around here who don't want to spend much on their cars.. and they even admit to that being the reason that they own one of these models in the first place.. but I do know for a fact that they do not speak for ALL of us.

I wasn;t implying that those prices were unreasonable in the least(and especially since the quality looks better than MAS/Unlimited products paper thin junk that I'd have to reinforce anyways). I would EASILY pay upwards of $300.. or possibly more.. for a design that I really liked. Especially considering it isn't even close to free to buy a cheaper version and then have to spend time and materials to mod it.

So I would hope that you can find the patience to give the thread time to percolate a bit before wiping your hands clean so quickly as I'm positive that others who value tastefully and well designed mod's will eventually chime in as well. Being unique has it's price too, right?

I don't have a spare valance.................but would reallyl, really like one.
I have to say that the aluminum Camaro front spoiler looks tempting.

 

I think I wasn't very clear. For that I apologize, I am not upset or worked up over this at all. My comment about ending my involvement is just referring to that I will hook up whoever has a valance to ship him. And that is where I end being involved. I am not going to be a dealer, or anything like that. Once these are in production everyone that wants one will buy direct from Randy.

My brain was thinking one thing and my fingers were typing something else...

It is my understanding that there will be no minimum on this. He will make patterns and when someone wants one he will pump it out. He doesn't sit on a ton of inventory, and yet turn around is quick.

 

Whoever decides to send the valance please the the guy I will buy one too!
If he needs the money up front...........I'm willing to do that also, just wish I had a valance to send or it would be on it's way.........I really want one!!!!
