Im gauging interest in a larger sway bar made for our cars. Addco has agreed to custom bend a 1-1/8th bar with adjustable endlink mounting holes. (stiffer hole - standard hole - softer hole) A single bar is 455.00. Not bad compared to some prices for a performance bar and really not bad considering its a one-off adjustable bar. But then I asked how much if they made a run of them. I was told that if we could sell 10, the price comes down to 255.00 The discussion of larger sway bars comes up it seams every couple months and with more and more of us getting into track oriented events, 10 shouldnt be that hard to put together. So who's interested? Sitting at possibly 7 now: GrabberGT Schroensr 71Mavrk (maybe) Bryant GRoberts101 Mashori Bryant-friend (maybe) Streetrod77
It all comes down to what your plans for your car are. Chris auto x's his car as do others. So yes a bigger bar would be great. I have a different front end otherwise I would buy in. Good luck Chris.
Yeah... I think I need one. I have a little bit of a roll problem. This is with a 7/8" front and 3/4"rear. The adjustable bar will give rate options of aprox. 1", 1-1/8", and 1-1/4" by simply changing the mounting point of the end link.
Chris, I’m in the market for both a front and rear bar. There was an eBay seller who had a kit selling both for $225, which is the best deal I saw on these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130804642414;jsessionid=902CBF8BE8358EDF8CA5DC775FD02CF6?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D130804642414%26_rdc%3D1 He is out of the bars and expects new ones in a few weeks. So, I have been waiting. I’m not planning on racing my car, but I would not mind getting the custom front bar. I just don’t know if it is worth an extra $255. For those of us who might be looking for both bars, is there any possibility of putting together a front and rear package and see if we can get an even better deal? Thanks, Micah
im in for one. im interested in a rear bar that has some adjustability also. and maybe a mounting method that wont rip the frame rail.
I dont see why not. Can I put you down for a front and we'll ask? The standard price appears to be 170 for the rear kit. 150 on ebay. ...Says the guy installing a 22 point jungle gym in his car. Surely there is a bar back there to attach those end links to. LOL Thanks. But please Dave, Hands off!. LOL
Nice of you to take the bull by the horns here and I had planned on having a custom one made when the time came anyways. So, put me down for one too. May I ask what is your front(and rear if you don't mind) spring rate.. and how many coils have you cut off if they aren't adjustable coil-overs?
Thanks for jumping on board. We are now half way there. Front is Total Control Products Coilover conversion with SA Varishock coilovers and 450lb springs. 7/8" Addco sway bar. Rear is Total Cost Involved Torque Arm with SA Varishock coilovers and 250lb springs. 3/4" sway bar. I could get heavier springs but the ride is already on the stiff side for cruising. and I plan to start shedding some weight pretty soon which will make it even worse.
LOL have taken your car around a corner lately? I have a factory 1-1/8 on my Fox Mustang which is a better platform than ours. I might be down for a monster sway bar.
now thats funny!!! im sure i can add 24 points to accommodate the sway bar. i should be able to talk mo into one of these and i have another maverick customer who is interested in handling who ill see if they want one.
What do you mean by "make a custom one"? I believe they are simply taking the bend pattern they have for the 7/8 and putting a 1-1/8 bar in the machine instead. Not sure how they plan to accomplish the adjustment holes as I believe these to be solid bars. I have asked before about truely bending a custom shape. They said they could do it if I sent them a pattern. I've since worked out my issues and can make the stock pattern work again.
