Hi, after years of lurking I thought I would post pictures of my maverick. I have owned it for about 20 years, but only started to get serious about it 3 years ago. I started with a 76 6cyl bench seat and column shift.

Looks great, very clean car. Is that a Brazil maverick tach, or is that one of the ones from the guy here on the forum is making?

Nice car! A/C, rear defog, power brakes, buckets, sport wheel, very cool. What are the buckets and console out of? Can you post some pictures of the seats?

Well now I know what that console will look like in my car.(y) I have one exactly like that in my garage that came out of a '77 Lincoln Versailles.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the car. The tach is the one that cactusgrabber designed. I purchased the front face from him but he also does complete conversions. The conversion can take a bit of time but his documentation is well written.
The seats were pulled out of a 2dr comet years ago. They have been recovered of course. I was told by a mustang guy they are the same as a similiar vintage mach 1. I haven't verified this for sure. I can take better pictures of the seats but may not be able to post them for a day or two. The car is in storage but I can still get at it for some pictures.
The console is out of a granada, it wasn't complete, I'm still looking for the latch mechanism. Not much usable space in the console, one or two 8-tracks can be stored, which is pretty much just for show, its easier to use the fm transmitter with a memory stick.
The car was an air-conditioned car, but that is long gone. Used a non air heater box and controls to eliminate the evaporator, but vent in the upper dash remains. I still need to convert the drivers side vent for fresh air. The defoger switch is what I use to trigger a relay for the grabber fog lights. The wheels and tires are still 14", but I sort of wanted to keep it that way. I have the drivers' exhaust running close to the tire. Also, my idea was to make a presentable car the way I would have wanted in the late 70's or early 80's. Back then everybody wanted cragars and most people kept original wheel diameter. The car does have minor flaws which are not evident in the pictures. Its not the fastest maverick here but it is a nice cruiser. I have only had it to one show so far.

    Paul,
I'm in dartmouth NS. I know what you mean about mavericks in the maritimes. I don't understand why that comet above moncton didn't sell last fall and now. Seems like a lot of car for the money. If I didn't have my garage full I would be interested in it. The major problem is no glass installed. Appparently he can't get the new headliner back in.
I read with interest your story of rebuilding the 4dr. I too had a similiar story, with a 73 4dr back in the early 80's. In the early 2000's I had seen several times a comet with the same paint scheme as yours driving in halifax. I never got a close look and it was probably not the same car, but I do remember a hood ortnament with a horse and harness racer.
I'm still in the planning stages but I may take my maverick up to the moncton nationals in july. Were you planning on taking the grabber?

My red/white 4-door originally came from Vee-Eight Motors in NS. It spent it's life in NB. I looked at a black/silver 74 and a rough red 2-door this past summer in Halifax. I decided to pass on both, then I bought the Grabber.

The yellow Comet above Moncton is a good deal, I think, but it wasn't for sale when I bought my Grabber. I think the headliner just needs to be glued/stretched in place before the glass goes in. It looks like it was just hanging by the rods/bows.

A guy at work has been hounding me to go to the Nationals this year. He has a bunch of Pintos. I haven't registered yet. I should go, but I have some things to tweak/fix before I go on any trips/shows.

It would be great to see some Mavericks/Comets at the show in Moncton! If I'm ever in HRM, I'll have to look you up so I can see your car in person!!:Handshake

    Paul,
I think I saw the ads for both of those cars. The red one was a father son project where the son had received another car. It was supposed to have a rusty frame rail around the idler arm. Was the black and silver one the one painted in the stallion paint scheme with small bumpers?

Sure you can see my car in person. If you make it to the halifax area look me up. You can PM me and I can give you my phone number or email. I sure don't mind shooting the bull about cars.

Your friend has a couple of pintos? What does he have? Does he have any parts cars? I'm looking for some trim pieces. I also have a 72 pinto, but it needs work. In the maritimes, pinto parts are harder to find than maverick parts!

I hope your friend is not the guy which lives in black's harbour. He had a pinto on kijiji a year ago, expensive but was a good car. After driving from dartmouth to look at, (and I was a serious buyer) the price went up by $1000. Poor buisness, I got the impression he decided not to sell or had another buyer, but was trying to get more.

Looks good. What color paint did you use on the dash?
