Hi Matt your car is coming along. looking good so far. I am now in the process of working on my maverick. I am also going to install hooker headers. and was thinking of the floor shifter and column swap. I was hoping you could help answer some questions for me. Does the column just swap or is there more to it like some wiring stuff? Did you have to go floor shift due to having the hooker headers? I was looking at the linkage of the column shifter and it sure takes up alot of room.
Amen Bob, I make my son pay for his own parts, I buy them, and he pays me back. He will learn that there is no free ride. Nice work on your Mav Matt, keep up the good work.
Im 15 and I recently bought a maverick right at the end of 2012, I have been taking everything off and sanding everything and sandblasting, and taking things apart only to realize I can't COMPLETELY take it off without taking the whole thing apart haha but I have fell in love from the moment I sat in it. Anyways... The guy said there was a FEW rust holes in the wheel well... WELL once I removed the paint there was holes everywhere filled in with body filler over tape... Luckily my amazing stepdad just finished building a car shop with a lift, paint booth, all the tools I ever need, amd of course his assistance and I can't wait to get it painted and drive it like crazy. One thing I can't find is an instrument panel though... Mine has "desintergated" the white plastic housing has fallen apart but the gauges etc are still there so the connector doesn't stay in so the only thing that MAY work is the speedometer but no lights so... Cant drive at night... Oh well hope my project comes along like yours... I was planning to do a bumper swap like yours but with many discussions back and forth with my step dad we are going to cut and move back original bumper mounts and have the bumper flush against the car... Hopefully this will suffice my craving until I get enough money to pay back my mom for what she has done thus far and then I will customize it!!! WHOOT
Looking good Matt I think with the epoxy primer is the first time I have seen the car in one color, must have gave you a good feeling to know you are getting closer. Now the big chore of sanding, priming, sanding, guide coat, more sanding. But in the end you will be very happy with what you have accomplished.
Thanks Mike! Thats exactly right! It's a lot more motivating working on it and actually SEEING results! and yeah sand sand sand and sand! My arms are dead already..
