Quick question...are the fender bolts and hood hinge bolts all the same size and threading? Its been so long since I put them back in I don't remember. In any case I am thinking about changing them out and putting in anodized ones. And what do you think of that idea?
just put one in the fender and the hinge and see if it goes in easily if it does theyre the same if not theyre different.
"The fender bolts are part number 16758 and the hinge bolts are 57140-S" Thanks rt! What do you think of changing them over to anodized?
Yellow Zinc -duh on my part Sounds good--guess that is what I should have said, couldn't think of it and my old uniform bling came to mind. lol
The real name is Zinc Dichromate (yellow rainbow). They also had a Cadmium (Silver) and a Phosphate and Oil (gray/black) and of course body color.
Mustang fender bolts are different than the ones used on Mavericks, but Mustangs used the same style bolt for the coil spring cover. I may be able to find the National Parts Depot number, if you want to go that route.
So would the Cadmium Silver look like factory? And since I dont know what the finish is like, will it show rust/corrosion? Or is the Zinc Dichromate better?
I bought a few Cadmium bolts and they started rust spotting where the socket/wrench scratched the finish about 3 years later. The best I can remember the were about 2 or 3 times cheaper than the Zinc Dichromate. They look like a light gray primer color finish. I only had the Zinc Dichromate for 10 months but they still look new and shinny.
