any suggestions on what kind of board i can use to make somemore door panels out of?..... seems like its pretty thin about 1/4....
When I looked at some old ones I had they looked like highly compressed cardboard. I think this is close if not it. If I decide to do some it's what I will use.. http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202404...gId=-1&storeId=10051&N=5yc1vZbu0m&R=202404545
upholstery shop did mine with what they call...oil board, it's water proof. Guy told me it's so if it gets wet it won't swell...
Here is a link for the board http://www.perfectfit.com/15347/154...oard/Black-Treated-Waterproof-Panelboard.html My friend bought some panelboard from the local auto upholstery shop last week. I think he said it cost $12 a sheet
Thanks for this, Jeff! I just bought 6 sheets for my Rambler project. Freakin' shipping is almost as much as the material. BTW, it's $7/sheet in 36x48 size and the larger sheets are freight-only.
I always see them when I search for Maverick stuff. If nobody posts a link for you, I will try and find them later.
Be sure to seal the edges and sides with marine varnish or it will suck moister from the air and swell over time.
Not sure i'm calling it correctly, I have used the same stuff for sign work back in the 80's, put on a coat of white primer then paint and do the lettering on it and it could then be displayed outdoors for years to come, maybe the primer/paint sealed it well enough, one side is as smooth as glass the other side has a texture.
