    Awesome job :thumbs2:

Are you leading the roof to the quarters or just using filler?

Filler. I don't have the knowledge to use lead. I would if I could though.

I went to the shop this morning to get the car home before work. I was all prepared to have to drain and clean up the leftover Metal Rescue and see how good of a job it did. Well, it did help, but not nearly as much as I have seen this product do. And I know why it lacked in performance. It all drained out over night. The stuff is supposed to soak all night long at 70 degrees. Sometime after I left it slowly dripped out of a couple holes I had blocked off. Apparently I didn't do a good enough job.

Anyway, it did help. Just not what I was hoping for.

Here are a couple before and after pictures.....

So the car is now home in the garage. Ready to start block sanding and then doing what little filler work it needs. I hope to do some this week, but that may not happen. Friday morning I am heading to Detroit for the Detroit Autorama car show. Anyone else here on the forum go to the show?

I've watched a few videos on leading and then bought a lead kit from Eastwood. I'm removing my rain gutters and then will have to weld the roof seam layers so they don't spread apart. Then give leading a shot to completely fill them in. I'll post pictures of what I hope is success

Sounds good. Please keep us posted. I am sure I could do it if I chose to, and it would probably be better to. But I am not that concerned about it.

    WOW!!!!!!!!

It took me 2.5 hours to go through this thread from start to end and you have the best maverick i have ever seen. I have been into mavericks for about 10 years now and this car rocks the scene! I have went to auto tech schools and have many years in fabrication, so to see all the love for your ride is awesome! I will be continuing to follow your build up. :thumbs2: big props for your car, you have given me a few ideas for mine thanks!

I will update later today. Although there isn't much to see. Right now it's a lot of sanding primer, and sanding body filler. Then spraying more primer.

Sand, sand and even more sanding. Will it ever stop???

So now that the fabrication part of the project is over and the car is all primed. It is time to start the tedious task of sanding. Followed by more sanding, etc, etc.....

I am going to start todays update with the radiator support. In a previous post I showed where I had welded in some metal to close in around the radiator more. Here is after the primer is cured, sanded and with very little filler applied to make it look good. Next step for this side is primer. I still have the other side of the support to do.

Here is the bottom of the passenger side quarter where I welded in a new side running light. I blocked the area and had to apply just a skim coat of filler in the area to make it perfect. This is now ready for primer again as well.

Here is the front A pillar all set and ready for priming once more as well.

Here you can see where I did the filler work around the welded perimeter of the new Shelby tail panel. It didn't take very much here at all to get it smooth as well. You can also see where I have reinstalled the trunk lid and am checking it to the quarters.

This last few pictures may need some explanation. I was once asked what I was going to do with the raised area above the drip rail now that I have shaved them off. To be honest I wasn't sure, until I went to the Detroit Autorama last weekend and saw a car with a treatment that I fell in love with. I am now stealing their idea. The funny thing was, I had looked at this car three times before I noticed this one detail. I love those kinds of hidden things.

    Here is what I saw....

And here is what I did.....
This will look a lot better in primer and paint.

I still have some refining to do here on the passenger side, but it is getting there. I hope to get it all in primer this week, and then start on the driver side next weekend!

I really like that treatment as well. They look good with the drip rails removed but little lacking. leaving/adding the body line gives it character. My step dad chopped the top on a 40 ford coupe, made a mold, then modified. I know you have seen them with the driprails removed and the side is so flat and boring, he added a bodyline where the driprail was and it totally changes the side profile for the better. I think this puts a line where our brains think it should be and makes it pleasing to the eyes. :thumbs2: Sorry Glenn, I don't post alot but I am keeping up with every one of your posts. Something I just noticed is that looks like a stock spoiler on there, I guess you are waiting til the end for the good one.
