    sort of...I went by Harold's shop and splained to him what was happening.
    he said "take off them...high performance pads...and put on some cheap ones". he had a set on the shelf he let me have...BINGO...no more noise...:thumbs2:

    ...:chirp:...to lunch and back...:yup:

    cheap ones must be softer...? well good thing you got it sorted out.. noisy brakes are aggravating.

    I have had similar issues with hi-performance pads on my truck. Ceramics. They braked on a dime, but noisy, and VERY hard on the rotors.

    so we simply trade stopping distances(20 feet can be all that matters in a panic situation).. ESPECIALLY at high speeds(can be WELL over 20 feet savings with good pads).. for crappy quiet pads?

    2 words. anti-squeal compound.

    ok.. well.. maybe 3 words I guess. lol

    I don't buy cheap pads for anything I own because it's just like buying those extra hard "4 for $100 dollars" tire specials. What is your loved ones safety worth to you? :hmmm:

    not like any of the above...I saw no difference in the stopping distance. there may be more pad wear, less rotor wear but I think that's all the difference there will be...

    well Frank.. all I can tell you is that the pads you had were surely crap then. IME.. the "over the counter" performance pads are usually junk compared to the racier stuff. Performance Friction is about the best I've used so far that was ever in "warehouse stock" at the local parts store.

    Because I can tell you without a doubt that all of us who spend the extra cash sure get our moneys worth when choosing the right parts. Using good pads with permanent backing plates and anti-squeal compound goes a long ways for quieting them down too.

    I use mostly Hawk street compounds and last year I was running back and forth to Madison for work so much that I cracked a front right pad on my work van(I drive fast enough to do that to a old/thin pad). Didn't have time to get the pads ordered and back on the van in time for the next trip out of town and just grabbed some of the $22 specials locally. They were like driving on greaseed rotors compared to the others!

    Did the same thing to my wifes car about 2 years ago and even though I specifically told here to be more careful until the other pads were shipped.. she literally came back in the door after work and said.. "are my brakes done right?.. because it seems like somethings wrong with them." And she even drives fairly easy with it. Not that I'm proud or anything.. but I've been known to go WELL over 100mph and the differences are astonishing to the point that you must throttle way back for improving the margin of error for ocassional "deers and dummies".

    Another example is my V8 s10. I swapped the rears corvette brake pads to Hawks "autocross" pads and the damned things started locking up at more than 80 miles an hour! Not wanting to get into dealing with an adjustable prop valve.. I just put the premium ceramics back on the rear and stayed with the Hawks up front only. They're seriously that good to cause such "night and day" differences like that.

    But hey.. if you drive easy and never really drive too fast or race around?.. there's surely cash to be saved of course. I just know that after experiencing combinations of good tires and good brakes.. I'll never EVER go back to regular "good enough" parts like that. The extra safety margin it gives you(especially if you drive more sanely) is well worth the money in my book.
