After 7 weeks of body repair, welding, and sanding it's finally ready for painting :bananaman if the weather holds like the weather man says we should have it painted Friday
Well the painting did not go as planed 95% of the car covered great, but there are 3 locations Front fender, rear quarter, and passenger door. that the paint lifted off. after several hours of internet research and sanding, reprimering and repainting twice the spots just kept getting bigger each time. I talked with a couple of body friends and i think we might have a solution. They say that there is an old layer of lacquer based paint that the urathane in the new primer and paint is reacting to. so last night i sanded and primed with a new water base primer, it did not lift hopefully i will put some paint on tonight or tomorrow.
very good color combo looks like its going to be very nice. the clear on the trunk gives it a gloss look and the hood almost looks like a satin finish
The trunk was clear coated the hod was not, i finished the clear coat Sunday. turned out ok, I have to do some wet sanding and polishing in a few spots. the clear coat did not lay down very well in spots.(to cold i think when i sprayed) But its my first paint job so i expected to do some polishing. here are some new pics right after puling it out of the paint booth.
first paint job wow looks nice. my neighbor did a house paint roller job on his truck and it came out really nice. the only thing about it though is it took him a month to finish it with all of the sanding and repainting he had to do
