Did any years Maverick have stainless trim around the rear glass; (above the deck lid), or were they all aluminum?
I can't get mine to polish out to suit me. I about to paint my 75 model 2dr and am wondering how it would look painted body color?
mmb member "rthomas771" taught me to use this product from Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Instant-Power-33-8-oz-Hair-and-Grease-Drain-Opener-1969/100144566 It removes the oxidation... then afterwards just follow-up with a metal polish suited for aluminum. Works GREAT! Here is a youtube link demonstrating the use of both products: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Jdlo-AQoAY"]63 impala video 49? X2 the stuff in the brown jug works well. Used it to do my tail lights. If its real bad you need to add water. The water reacts with the potasium/sodium hydroxide to work better. Be careful, it producds hydrogen gas. And don't use an aluminium pan. I filled kitchen garbage can with water and dumped in a bottle. Take out rinse whipe down good and repeat till all the coating is gone.
Be careful with it.(the hair and grease remover) It worked great on my taillight bezels but actually ate through a set of headlight bezels.
Won't work on bumpers, what it does is it removes the anodizing so you can get at the aluminium and polish it.
Don't work on chrome. I saw on Myth Busters that Coke and aluminum foil works better on chrome than the high dollar chrome cleaner
