Maverick Man Carbon flat hood. This is the absolute most gorgeous go fast component I could put on the car. Its a piece of art. Weighs in at 18 lbs which is 20 pounds off the top and front of the car. It'll really help my f/r weight bias and move the center of gravity lower.

New tires. These are Falken Azenis 615. They are 200tw and are proven performers on the autocross circuit. Fronts 265/35/-18 and rear 275/35-18. Im coming down a size in the rear because 1) I need to make room in the rear to keep the 295but dont have the time, 2) they do not yet offer a 285/35 or 295/35. (their 295/40 is too tall.)

My next autocross is 4/20. Im hoping to get the hood painted and tires mounted this week. Who knows, maybe my new sway bar will be in by then as well.

I dont think I could paint one of those hoods, they just look so good as they are. Your car just keeps getting better and better.

Good luck and have fun on the 20th :thumbs2:

The other thing that would help shed weight from the front would be tossing that Grabber grille and installing a regular 70-72 grille without the sportlamps. The 76-77 grilles have the lamps/turn signals too, but are all plastic.

Oh, and keep the awesomeness coming!

Love those tires but they are pricy! They are very proven most of the guys that run the Optima series that can't get there hands on the new BFG tire run them. I'm starting with the Toyo R888 on mine until I need to run a 200 tread ware tire.

Agreed on the hood so Im not painting all of it. I'll leave a section out to look like this.

Thanks for that bit of info. I may have to look in to that.

No kidding about the Optima AND Goodguys series. At the last Goodguys autocross here, 7 of the top 10 drivers were on them. Im expecting to be a full secong quicker with the tires alone. Faster still with the other upgrades and weight sheddin gI have planned.

Damned nice piece of resin there Chris. (y)

If you send me a decent "straight on" front view of the new hood.. I'll add it into the folder of others that are getting close to being finished.

Also.. since you're the hardcore type.. maybe look into running a glass front bumper that had the newer spray chrome process done to it.. along with some custom AL front bumper supports while you're at it. The bumper mounting hardware alone is probably heavier than the bumper itself.. and with it's location.. that would be some decent removal of weight from all the right places too. That's what I'll be doing to mine eventually. And who knows.. maybe someone will have releases a FG front Comet bumber by then too. ;)

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
glad you got everything. i see you got my tires. ;)

the Falken tire will just grow with the limited support that BFG does at events Falken will start to rule that market more and more. over 1/3rd of the cars were running them at goodguys.

Tires and hood installed. Tires look good and oddly enough (at least I think so) I can feel a difference in normal street driving going from the old BFG's. The ride feels smoother. I think it uncovered another problem though. Getting my clutch adjusted has been an ongoing challenge for me. I thought I had it but now after going to the new stickier tires, I think its slipping again. Might be time for a new slave cylinder.

that info is right in the very first post. "Weighs in at 18 lbs which is 20 pounds off the top and front of the car".. = 38lbs.

all I know is they sure seem a bit heavier when you're pulling them off by yourself though. lol
