Ram 1500.. I'm being taken.. Partially my fault.

I have a dodge ram, and once had to change the fan out front on the condenser (I think that is the name of it, looks like a radiator).

I had to cut some plastic parts away, moved stuff around, and replaced the fan with help from Blugene suggesting to remove the entire top radiator support frame.

Never leaked out on me.

I guess it depends on what you are moving...

 

This Frank guy tells me they didn't remove that support.. I call . My daughter, who knows nothing about mechanics, asked how the motor would fit between the support and the huge grill hanging down with the hood open lol.. :16suspect

 

I am tempted to make a wise-ass remark here but, I let all the Freon out of my dad's Dodge Ram by leaning into the engine bay wrong. About 3 months after he bought it new. Some of those connectors they use are totally useless.

edit- and this is not important, but I was just looking over that craigslist post and that's like 5 minutes from where I used to live in Garland.

 

"Freon" is a trade name, like "Kleenex"...it's Refrigerant, one of those things that bugs me...

 

But so are propane (non-halogenated hydrocarbon) and ammonia. So, just to be clear and understandable, we need to say Tetrafluoroethane from now on.

 

Just back from my shop looking it all over :16suspect..
I tried to add the Tetrafluoroethane and of course.. The leak didn't show it's ugly head untill I pierced the second can. Ordering a new one from Rock Auto..

 

Found a few new items I was not told about. The parts are not on the receipt and were not charged as additional. The whole rebuild was like a package deal and the ad tells you what all is included, which we all have an idea as to what should be included in an overhaul.
Notice the oil filler cap? That whole assym is new. The belt and tensioner is new. New air filter also.
No leaks at all that I can see.. Despite the couple of broken items, for $2200, as long as it holds up at least 6 months (has 1 year no mileage disclaimer).. I say it's good money spent.

 

Me too, I'm not interested in trying to spell its gibberish name with my severe dyslexia.

I'll just stick to Freon, because it's like a bad word around the hippies here.

And that looks like the common leaky spot to me. When you put your new one in coat the join with a good flexible rubber sealant so that you don't casually do that again some day. Worked on my old man's truck.

 

Swapped.. I kinda feel vialated.. I asked Frank at the shop and he said he can't have the week turnaround that he does without swapping. This is one of the things that disappointed me about the lack of communication from him. I asked him and his secretary for him to call me when he found out what the problem was. When he was to call me I wanted to tell him I would be willing to wait cause I kinda figured swapping was what they were doing.. judging by the way they had blocks and heads ready to go.. When I called on Thursday they were about to pull it in. This was around 3-4. I called Friday again around 3-4 and it was on a test drive :16suspect. This is also when he went on a spill about how it ruined the motor when it overheated so the cost was now $2500 .

 

The hose actually blew after I took the pic. The outter rubber layer poped like a firecracker. I am sure it was stressed BUT it is also 11 years old. They moved and hung it to the side like I would have so I just now ordered me another from Rock Auto..

 

Good to know about that A/C hose. I get to crawling around under that hood every 50k for throttle body cleanup, and tuneup. I now just take the entire upper intake manifold off so I can reach everything easier.

I could very easily hit that hose with an elbow.
