The T5 doesn't care what flywheel you use, but your engine does. And it depends on what type of clutch and pressure plate you're gonna run. Over the years I've had about every combination of clutch and flywheel on mine. Used a Long-style pp, drilled the flywheel for a factory diaphram pp, used 5.0 flywheel drilled for a Long-style, used the special CenterForce diaphram clutch for Long-style pp patterned flywheel. Always the same starter, though, the short-nosed V8 one.
To add to this the 5.0 clutches and pressure plates are metric, where the 302 clutches and pressure plates are SAE, they almost match but they dont, so if you want to use a diaphram clutch on your engine you need to get a matching flywheel I got a ford racing one new for about $80...
They make diaphram clutches for both patterns of flywheels. The CenterForce diaphram clutch I have bolts on to an early flywheel and comes with a special length release bearing so that the original push-type release fork can be used.
OK, so far I have a t5 and a 157 tooth 28oz flywheel... Someone pm'ed me saying they have a good t5 bell, waiting for a reply on that... I'm ordering all my hydraulics from Bruce at Modern Driveline... Kit includes the master w/remote reservoir, external slave and a 30" braided stainless hose... Total $523.50 less 5% discount = $497.32
Why dont you try rosehill the setup for the T5 even without the 5% discount is alot cheaper and probably uses the same parts or atleast their branded equivalents, here you go here is the breakdown for you... $69.00 Wilwood Master Cylinder (remote reservoir setup) http://rosehillperformanceparts.com/Products_Page.htm#-:Wilwood Master Cylinder:- $40.99 T5 CNC B305 Braided line kit http://rosehillperformanceparts.com/Products_Page.htm#-:Braided Line Kit:- $157.99 + 11.00 S&H. T5 Hydraulic Clutch Bracket Kit http://rosehillperformanceparts.com/Products_Page.htm#-:T5 Hydraulic Clutch Bracket Kit:- So total cost of their setup is $279.97 and that is including the $11.00 S&H charge. Thats a big savings over the 5% and those guys are great to deal with Oh and if your worried about pedal travel my clutch pedal feels just like a new car, full travel through the pedal range, infact I had to put a bump stop on my firewall so I didnt hit the bottom of the stroke completely. You probably saw what I did on my TKO writeup...
Thanks, I saved there site on my computer... I was googling around and came across your tko thread... And this is the the way I'm going to do it... They have some other stuff I need to...
