    I have a friend who is writing a story and needs to know how to start a 1938 plymouth car. do you step on a pedal? any idea out there? thanks in advance.

    Didn't it have a small round pedal on a 4"-5" shaft that engaged the starter gear (like a solenoid does now) as well as switched on the starter motor?
