My 1971 comet driving project

Finished stripping the driver 1/4 which had a lot of cracks on the old paint. Not much filler and 1 or 2 small dings

 

Got the fender down to metal

 

Front windshield came out. That black glue is no joke. I painted the metal part in front of the pad as well. I've been painting the engine compartment and satin black on the doors

It's butyl, and it sucks. Laquer thinner takes it off (but not easily).

 

very nice so far cant wait to see a clear on that. are you going for the hotrod clean flat/satin black look? I am going for that look with NO chrome except the wheels and gas cap maybe another piece here and there but very little

is it the pic or are the doors hanging a little low? good job on the fender to hood lines they look even. Im having a hard time getting mine straight but I think my hood is jacked up

 

One of the doors hangs a bit low, I'm no body guy so I could only get the body line on the middle of the door lined up to the 1/4 and not the top of the door. Clear should add a nice gloss to it. I'm going with the rocker chrome and possibly the wheel well chrome. Wheels will be steelies w/ dog dish poverty caps. I also picked up some pinto sport mirrors. Just some minor changes to make it my own.

 

sounds like it will be real nice. i hear ya on the body man Im not either I just know I have a problem with my door having to be YANKED open from the door sag I changed the hinge and put new brass bushings in the hinge and tried to adjust it but its still rough to open

Impressive! I call on not being a body guy lol.. Your car is looking amazing! I love it! I agree with you on keeping the chrome down on this one. Can't wait to see it done.
