I searched this is the search bar and really couldnt find what i was looking for so im going to ask it myself. I just finished restoring the 302 motor and now she is running strong, but that means it is time to work on the interior which my car doesnt have (other than the dash) and what i know nothing about. So heres my question, Im wanting to go with a black interior (curently a brown dash) and im just wondering whast the best way to go about repairing and restoring the dash to new...ish, the current dash is sun faded and had a crack, thanks for the help
Oh no way!! Have you looked at their prices!!! I would never spend that kinda money on a Maverick or Comet!!
Just Dashes quoted me at $450 US not including shipping (both ways). They also were not interested in "Group" deals.
even the local shops quoted me $450 my upholstery guy fixed everything seats carpet headliner dash EVERYTHING for something like $1500 labor and material ps a dash pad is different than a dash cap. a dash pad is the foam pad that bolts to your dash the dash CAP is the hard plastic alternative to repairing your old dash pad the cap simply slips over your existing dash PAD and glues down
A friend had the local shop do his dash for less than $100 and it looks factory fresh I heard it called a padded dash, dash pad and dash cap. Only here on MMB that I have heard a dash COVER or dash OVERLAY called a dash cap. I guess growing up in different location has a lot to do with what you hear different parts called or what it cost to get things done
DANG! thats cheap! here in CA everyone wants to retire from one job it seems like. everything is SOOOO expensive BUUUT I wouldnt live anywhere else nice dry weather mostly rust free cars no snow where I live and a race track 10 minutes from my house
Somewhere here is a thread from a member that covered his old dash using vinyl from a fabric store. He stretched and glued it to the original dash after filling the cracks. It turned out looking so good I thought about not only doing my dash like that but also the metal part of the doors surrounding the door panels.
So what...This eBay seller calls it a Molded Plastic Dash Board Cover Lid Cap Overlay . With that being said I stand on my last statement that growing up in a different location has a lot to do with what you hear different parts called.
Do you have $500 laying around? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-1971-1...Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e7c1881dc&vxp=mtr
