So out of curiosity, I decided to look up a video on how to change brakes and rotors because my brother recently started doing it on his own car. After watching what seems to be at most a 45 minute job for both front tires, I feel like I've wasted a lot of money having some place do it for me. The guy in the video literally took maybe 5 bolts apart and that's it. Replace the rotors and brake pads and off he went. What other self maintenance jobs do you guys suggest I start doing on my own? If I can save money doing it myself, I may aswell go ahead and do it on my Accord and Maverick.
If I didn't know better, the Accord is simply manufactured to frustrate you! I can't count the number of times starting on the Accord and halfway through wishing I'd have just taken it to the dealership. In my view, there is no comparison between work on the Maverick and Accord.
^^^What he said One of the Mavericks marketing tools was that it was easily maintained and repaired by the owner with only a few tools and general mechanical ability
I've never really had a problem with my 03 Accord besides wear on some of the suspension which is an easy fix. And I was talking about doing things on my own in general. I was not comparing working on an Accord to working on a Maverick.
My wife's is an '00 and I tend to do more than what is needed as a preventive measure. Yeah, I get it. My point was the Maverick is easy to work on/with and you'll discover the more time expended on it, the more comfortable you'll become.
oil changes, various filters. anything really. I hate working on my wife's accord. It's small and the designers o it packed as much crap into as small a space as possible. I need to change the blower motor, that's gonna be an all day job as I have to remove almost half the dash and underdash to do it.
