Nick's car is power steering so they will be putting a power rack on it. One nice thing about the Unisteer set up is it will not interfere with headers. It will basically replace the frame brace, or belly bar as some like to call it, so it will be forward of the tie rod ends.

I'll be tuning in to this thread.

Is your car an auto or a stick shift?

Dave and the Guys at Unisteer are first rate. I worked with him when he was at Flaming River to develop the what is the mustang kit now. I made a manual kit based off of an Omi rack for a Maverick but with the rack technology back then it was a real cumbersome installation and not much steering radius so it never went anywhere. I still have it around if I can find it I will take pictures and post them.

I'd be willing to bet that will be real close to the final price of this upcoming "kit" for the Mavs.

RRS I believe. I'm not sure if they currently have a Maverick listing. I heard that it was still in development.

RRS is almost 3 grand for their rack. The guy we were talking with from Unisteer, was hoping to keep the price comparable with their Mustang kit, but he had no idea, until he actually saw a Maverick.

    That's nuts!!!

I'll keep my eye on the unisteer setup. I like the simplicity of it and 55crownvic's.

Are you still doing that conversion to yours or have you decided to wait for the unisteer?

What they can do that I can't, made the decision for me. Talking to them, they spin the tie rod mounting point of the rack itself to the rear, compared to the front. With them doing that, you can move the rack forward, to the area of the belly bar, making way more clearance for long tube headers, if you want them..
Plus giving more room to connect the steering, which will hopefully eliminate tight bends in the universal joints, used to connect to the column.

Frank, the RRS is a complete kit.

Frank, for the money the system you have is the way to go but if you do not want to cut out the shock towers and weld in a new frame, the bolt on kit from Unisteer is going to be a good option.
