Raining so I haven't got much done. Cleaned and pecked several dents out of the 70 valance. Appears I butchered the lower curved areas at some point for tire clearance. Got most of that straightened back out.

I'll be on hold on most of the things I have going waiting on parts. I had to place an order of odds and ends thru AK today.

Been trying to figure out if there's anything else I want to add to the exterior. I have a very nice set of wheel opening moldings. Not sure they would look good or not on a base Maverick??

Still pouring rain. I got out my can of Eastwood Inner Frame Protector and sprayed it down in the lip of my trunk. The trunk I have on the car now is mint...so mint it is still shiny bare metal inside. Figured I better protect it.

I honestly thought the nozzle would clog after the first time I used this stuff but as long as you hold the can upside down and spray the tube and nozzle clean, it still works fine.

One of cans I bought lasted right up until it went empty using that tube. :)

I drilled the brown trunk for the Grabber spoiler (had a feeling something would go wrong) and the spoiler fit terrible. Tried the green trunk again and it fit fine. Guess I'll stick with the green one. :hmmm:

Got the front spoiler on for a try. Not sure if I like it or not??? I'll give it some time and see if it grows on me.

No big accomplishment, but I got my Sport mirrors installed the way they were meant to be. Rivnuts, 10/24 screws and new AK gaskets (no more sheet metal screws and homemade gaskets). Btw I'm mocking up everything to make sure I like it. Plus it helps me make sure I get everything off of the Comet parts car I need before I scrap it. A lot will have to come back off once the real body work starts.

I started pulling the windshield back out. I dug out all of that old dry sealer I could hoping I could reseal it without pulling it again, but I think the effort is a waste. I have a new seal on the way.

I got the windshield out and removed the weatherstrip. I found 2 voids in the sealer at the stands where it looked like the sealer pulled. That explains the 2 leaks I've been fighting.

I talked to a local restorer of Chevelles and asked him who locally he'd trust installing a rope in style windshield. He named only 2 that he trusted and neither are mobile.

I then did some more reading and found another way some places are doing installs on Mustangs. They first use butyl to fix the seal in the opening so it's good and sealed. Then they place the glass in the weatherstrip and work it in using nylon tools. After it's seated they use apply sealer between the glass and seal as usual. This sounds like a much easier way and less worries of breakage. I may just give that method a go myself.

I really want to get the windshield done before I go any further since I plan on doing the dash pad and switches next so it's driveable again. My wiper switch broke and I think it's shorting.

Seems a lot easier to rope one in, it's not that hard.

Yes but I've already had one crack and a void in sealer. I'm willing to try something different.

I really don't think anything would be easier than rope. I think it would be nearly impossible to do it without damaging the gasket or glass any other way.

Actually the outer lip of a new gasket is very pliable and I think is should be very easy to install that way. If the current windshield hadn't all ready had sealer set up between the glass and seal, I could've removed it with my fingers.

I guess I'm just gun shy after cracking the first windshield. I had it all the way in and the last pull it cracked. I've probably installed 5 windshields without a problem before.

Here's a like on the other way:

My plan for the paint job on the Maverick is going back with the original Pastel Blue with a black grill, black chin spoiler and blacked out rear panel. Since it's a 70, I'm thinking about blacking out the rear like a 70 Grabber...rear panel and spoiler. I'd planned on no emblems on the rear, but I ran across a NOS rear emblem. It was listed wrong on ebay and I got it cheap. I got it just in case I deside to use an emblem and the original dealership emblem on the spoiler.

I thought the M looked bent but it isn't.
