That would be the way to fix the 70 Maverick gas tank (or lack there of) problem. I was going to do it, but I figured as soon as I cut my floor out, they'd reproduce 70 tanks. I'll probably do it eventually.

This morning I added a couple inches to the length a of the rear cage plates to get them to a legal size..... Then I made a frame to level the right side floor so I have a place to mount the battery box and welded it in..... Next I made a small filler panel for the rear center of the floor and welded it in..... Last thing I did was clean most of the flaking trunk paint off the inner quarters.....

Here is the extended floor plates.....

Looks awesome Frank. Funny thing how those of us that have done the Mustang tank conversion have all done it a little differently, and yet they look similar when done. I like your supports.

Thanks, everybody does seem to take a slightly different approach to installing the Mustang tank as a drop in..... I did mine with the tubing frame because it makes me feel better strength wise.....

Today I got the cut off switch bracket welded in and the hole made for the rod in the rear panel..... I put the Aeromotive tank in place that I am actually using so I could make up a support to hold the spare tire clear of the fuel pump hanger assembly and lines..... So I made the spare tire bracket and mounted it in place.....

Here's the cut off switch bracket, assembly and rod through the rear panel.....

Sweet!!! I love the way you did the spare, I'm going to save that idea in my head ( if I can)

But, I've got one question, did you level the car, and keep the tank on the same level? Or is it tilted to the front or back?

Thanks, the mounting flange on the tank is parallel to the lower rocker as it would have been in the stock Mustang.....

I like the spare there too. I always kept mine there, gave you more room in the trunk.:thumbs2:
