First thing I had to today is get the car outside and clean up the shop, it was getting hard to work and everything was covered in grinding/sanding dust..... After blowing and vacuuming the car out I did take the time to sand the rest of the trunk area, also got some seam sealer in all the new joints and old ones I dug out..... Tomorrow I am going to get some paint in the trunk area to keep it from surface rusting.....

Here's the car just sitting outside.....

and here's the trunk area all seam sealed up and ready to be painted.....

Today I Put a feed tube in the tail light panel and guide on the chute mount for the release cable..... After that I cleaned up the trunk area and outer quarter area all the way up to the door jambs..... Then I painted it all with a coat of POR15 and a coat of Rustoleum.....

Here's the mock up with the chute release cable through the guides.....

That looks great, Frank! Are you using the gloss or satin black POR-15? I bought the satin for mine...

Thanks, me too..... I also hate getting it on my hands and arms like right now..... This stuff is near impossible to get off.....

    Thanks.....

I use satin, I hate the gloss look..... It is also coated with Rustoleum satin exterior after the POR15 tacked up, I did that because POR15 is hard to top coat after it dries completely and I want to use trunk spatter paint and clear coat in the trunk area later.....

    Looks really nice.
How about some pictures of how the chute bar attaches to the frame.

Thanks..... Both frame rails are plated with 1/8" from the rear spring shackles to the end of the frame, then there is a piece of 1.5" square 1/4" wall box that goes between the plates..... It also has a center 1/8" reinforcement plate that attaches to the back of the car..... I will take a couple pic's next weekend.....

I do still need to add a couple supports to it, he didn't do it then because he didn't want to get in the way of my fuel tank mounting.....

Here's what it looks like now.....

I didn't go to the shop at all on Saturday this week, my father has been wanting to go check out fantasy of flight so we did..... I did get a little work done this morning..... I sanded down the under rear seat area and paint it..... I also painted the rear cage area, basically all the bars behind the main hoop..... Then I got the car up on jack stands so I can get a driveshaft loop in it and remove some unnecessary retaining tabs from the floor pan.....

Here's the under rear seat area after painting.....

and here's a few shot of the rear cage area painted.....

Your mount looks great, but now I'm torn between using the hole for the original gas filler tube (since I no longer use it since I have a cell and can mount to the roll cage) or making a mount like yours.
Decisions, decisions...............Thanks for sharing the pictures.
