While I was on the beach in MS, my daughter went 3 rounds in Pro, 2 rounds in Foot Brake in the Mustang. I'll take the Maverick to the Motorplex this weekend and run Street.
Damn you guys gotta stop talking about this stuff, I got the itch to hit the track again so bad I dunno where to scratch first... I've raced exactly once since Nov '09 when the T-Bird's engine blew a head gasket and I yanked it out cause was half dead anyway(crank had been walking almost .100 due to bad thrust bearing)... My lone effort was in 2011 when I raced the supercharged Marauder(now sold) in street class and won...
Couple of New Vids... Here are a couple of new vids from this Saturday. They're actually of the same pass...one is camcorder, and the other is a fender mounted GoPro. Just different perspectives of the same pass. I actually won the round, as the other guy broke out by a number...I was dead on I suppose I could have spliced them together and switched back and forth between the views as the run played out...but I have to admit...I've been a little lazy lately lol. http://youtu.be/noTk6NBH6oE http://youtu.be/Bv5qHsL1JTk
I just hit Atco for my first pass with racing gas and full timing (previous best was 9.80 @ 144 on pump gas with timing retarded 4 degrees), just got my NHRA license. Car went 9.72 @ 140 with a miss-fire all the way down the track. I couldn't figure it out at the track and took it home, did a compression check and found that the head gasket blew at #5 and was sucking water into the cylinder. Almost have it back together and will try it again. Yellowbullet Nationals are next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you live anywhere near Cecil County Raceway, don't miss it, wildest drag race in the country.
No I'm not running, going with a friend with a X275 nitrous mustang. Don't intend to race my Maverick seriously, just a trip to Atco or Cecil County now and then, love driving it on the street. Running a stroked and bored 460 big block.
Congratulations on getting your license and very respectable times for a street/strip car..............indeed!
Thanks OleRodder. Darn shame you are on the other coast, would love to see your Maverick with so much history.
I'm in for the Yellowbullet Nationals Saturday, Pro Spectator and Pro Fence class. No car though it let go on the brake last night, think I dropped a valve.
The yellow bullet nats sounds like fun. I'll have to see if I can make it. Oh and Bigford, were you at Atco on Father's Day? I think I saw your car but you had it in the trailer and left before I had a chance to check it out.
Yellowbullet is awesome. Half the cars in the field cannot make it down the track without lifting, it is absolutely wild. Rick I like your "ProFence!" Last year I stood on the starting line fence for 6 hours on Sunday for the finals. Will do it again this weekend.
