Have any of you guys used the radio antennas that are inside the car? I think they have to be powered by 12v but I'm not sure. Anyway, looking for pros and cons if you have any. Thanks!
I wanted one but really didn't know where to put it, I really wanted one like my Aztek has, it's like in a clear film across the top of the windshield, hard to find, so I opted for the Shark Fin.
My brothers mustang had one. He got it off eBay, just plugged in and is like a thin strip of tape with a thin wire in it and stuck along the edge of the window, dad had the one that plugged in and hung inside the dash, both worked OK. Not amazing but worked better then no radio.
Doing a little research revealed the powered ones by crutcfield suck. The reviews in their own site tell the story.
I run a Tune Trapper in mine. It does not require any power, and it's only 40 bucks. http://www.tunetrapper.com/Hidden_Car_Antennas.html
That's the one that seems the most appealing to me. Where did you mount it and how well does it work? And since we're in the topic.......... Did you hear about the two antennas who fell in love and got married? The wedding was "ok" but the reception was GREAT!
I mounted it behind the lower dash shelf. You can't mount it under the headliner because it will be too close to metal. You may still get FM reception that way, but the metal blocks AM waves.
