yeah, its quite a difference. that shows that even in mexico you can find people who can do some work with quality. but its all a question of the money youre willing to spend... if a mexican comes to you and says make it as cheap as possible, its not possible to do quality work. im happy with what they are doing, but my bank account hurts... sure there is a solution for the shock tower, but its a point more on the bill which wasnt expected... thanks for your interest, ill keep you posted.
i also checke out tho cowl from inside the passenger area and its clear where the water came from. tho air vents are closed, but not sure how well. and on the passenger side are two holes easy to see...
OMG I can't believe it! I saw this car before and looked like a "finish car" and the price too. It's a shame. I'm from Mexico, as you said there are a lot of bad and good "talleres" the difference is the money you want to spend and the quality you want. You are doing a very good job with this car!
yeah, its a shame, but for me buying it! big newbie mistake... but i didnt check it good enough, so i had to learn it the hard way! there is really a big difference in the shops, so im happy with the one i have now, could have been worse. thanks, i hope its going well all the way. but already big behind timing plan because of the more than expected body work. and the parts still missing...
unfortunatly i didnt have time to see the car the last 2 weeks, but they are still working... on saturday i was on a junkyard to get a short axle for my 8.8 explorer rearend and there i found a 1970 Falcon Maverick. thats the model in the change year from falcon to maverick. its a 2 door with 289 but not in great shape and lots of parts missing. but would be a nice project if i ever will be crazy enough to start all over again... the paint outside is nasty, has quite a bit of rust all around, no interior and the engine is not running. so 25000 pesos (almost 2000USD) is too much at the moment... but the best of the 70 mav was, that it still had the heater system in it. they only wanted to sell the complete car, not por parts, so i told the guy that i wont leave without the heater! a bit of discussing and a while pokering i had the deal and could go to pick it up the other day. it looks pretty dirty, but its almost complete and what i was searching for 3 months now. so it will be a little sideproject clean and rebuild it to put into my maverick. any suggestions on how its best to restore the plastic, cable, mechanics and heater core??
also found another maverick in a barn close to the junkyard. 1974 302 2 door with automatic, looks pretty complete. but also 2000USD tody: it has the 220kmh speedo with alu ring in it, im trying to buy it, but probably the wont give it to me. the 1970 falcon mav has only a 200kmh in it. so still looking around!
iirc, you can use a 70 mustang rebud kit for the heater box, it will have all the correct gaskets. again, pictures in my restoration thread
heater restoration yesterday night i started disarming my heater of the 1970 Falcon Maverick. it looked dirty, but inside it was worse than i could imagine. :deadhorse the plastic is in good shape and has only one little crack. i opend it up and surprisingly oall clips were in place and almost nothing missing. just the floor duct plastic part did not come with it. anyone selling one??? it looks like it never have been opened since 1970. it had lots off leaves, dirt and debris in it and the bottom half looks like it had seen a lot of water over his lifetime. the metal parts are all rotten on the botton half. what a ****!! the fan looks ok, as does the backside sheetmetal. the motor will need a rebuild. so i need some replacement sheetmetal. anyone can help me with that?? or i build the myself, but would neet all the measurements, as mine is missing to much to measure. look at all the dirt at the end....
thats what i was thinking, but it was the only one i found! ill try to talk to the to give it back...
Tell me that you were actually surprized to find it in such bad shape. There use to be a couple of Mavericks in the "junkes" here but they have all since been crushed and sent to China. I will keep my eyes open for you though.
damn, youre right... with my luck until now i should have thought about it. i was so happy to have found a heater, it made me disappointed alot more now... thanks, really appreciate it! :Handshake
