I just picked up a 1998 dakota. I live in a small town and commute to a city often. I would like to install cruise. Is there a good aftermarket company selling a kit? Do you have any experience, good or bad? what should I look for? what should I avoid? I am not scared of wiring so this would seem to be an easy thing to do. throttle actuator, speed sensor, break light cut off, switches ....
I have installed a few. It was years ago though. What I always found most troubling was where to put the switches. Some came with a levar and some came with just a controll block. I seemed to like the blocks better but the darn wires came out the bottom instead of the back of it. So the wireing cable would show and just bug me. I wanted a clean look.. The other issue I would encounter was the magnets on the drive shaft sometimes came off for what ever reasons.
Rostra is one the main aftermarket cruise control mfgs / distributors. I installed one of their kits in an older C-class motorhome we had. A search on thier website shows the 250-1223 kit and a 250-3421 or 250-3742 control stick for a 1998 Dodge Dakota. http://www.rostra.com/
Because you shared the link now I have an idea for when I have my seats redone.. I will be adding heaters
