Today I stripped what little paint was on the inside of the firewall and underside of the cowl, not to mention a the what I assume is at least 3 gallons of glue that was on it..... Then I stripped the paint off the under hood side of the firewall..... After that I started welding up and grinding smooth the holes I will no longer need in the firewall(like the 3 that held the brake line to the firewall and the one that held the throttle cable.....

Here is the inside and under hood side of the firewall before, then after stripping.....

Weld up all the holes for the rubber plugs that held the firewall insulation on.

Today I finished welding up holes I did not need..... The holes that were for the firewall insulation retaining pins I tacked a 1/4" bolt to the inside and then plug welded the hole shut on the engine side to create a stud to retain the insulation now..... I welded bulkhead nuts on the inside of the firewall for the heater hose feeds and a nut on the inside for the Lokar throttle cable to screw into..... I also dilled a 3/4" hole in the top right hand corner of the firewall that I will use for my wide band feed through, I also put a hole just above the pass side frame rail for the battery cable feed..... Then I sanded the whole firewall on both sides and put some fresh seam sealer on all the seams..... After the seam sealer dries this week I will be able to paint the firewall next weekend....

Here is s bolt I tacked to the inside before plug welding the outside, then a picture of it from the inside(you can see it sticking out on the upper right hand corner of the second pic).....

After work today I went to my shop to meet with my upholstery guy, he needed to test fit the rear seat to check alignment before recovering the lower half of the seat..... He leaft the upper part of the rear seat with me which he had already recovered..... I had him do them in a vinyl that was close to the original, and a black tweed material for the inserts..... I think it looks really nice and still fits the early style nicely.....

    Here's what it looks like.....

Rear seats look great, Frank! High back buckets and black tweed inserts for the front, also?

you know the more I think about it those seats look like they wouldve been a real nice factory interior option for the blue cars back in the day

I wouldve bought the car just for that interior :thumbs2:

Can't wait to see the front seats upholstered like the back, they will look really sharp!
