How much mark up is there because THEY only sell the parts? What happens if they discontinue anything... You're out 1600$ + what ever it costs to convert over to another setup.

I guess it would be no different than anything else you'd buy.
Like I've said, if you don't like it, don't buy it, I think it's simple. It's almost like people are against this product, since it's not what they have on their car, it's no wonder aftermarket parts are limited. Look at the spoilers by Randy, all everyone did was bitch about the cost, and the finish...:tiphat:

I'd be happy with a simple Borgeson conversion if they were cheaper.

HMMMM, Maybe I should go into business installing my own version of the rack on everyones car, you all would have a R&P with zero worries and a much happier Maverick to drive around, at about half the cost of the setup in this thread...HMMMMM;)

Ok! I had inquired abt long tube headers in June 2011 and u did not know if they wud work on a car w/ long tubes. It seemed it might be a little tight w/ dbl joints and their supportU responded via the forum/email ... I don't mean to be repetitious .. just interested in ur accomplishments.
What rack are u using on this current project? Any pix?

In 2011 I did not have this car that I have the headers on, the car I had at that time was a 302 car with an AOD and stock exhaust manifolds, so there was no clearance problem at that time. My current Mav Is a 5.0 T5 with I believe Hedman long tube headers, and I had to remake my brackets to mount the rack a little further forward with the haeders. There is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch clearance at the tightest spot on this car. The rack I like to use is from a 85-86 Cavalier, that rack has 3 turns lock to lock and will have just as much turning radius as the stock mav. 70mav_rack_w_headers_018_original.jpg 70mav_rack_w_headers_021_original.jpg 70mav_rack_w_headers_019_original.jpg 70mav_rack_w_headers_025_original.jpg

If you had put a kit together that worked with a column shifter, I would have been first on your list! :yup:

Anyhow, I've been in contact with Unisteer myself awhile ago to see where the development was at. Will have to wait until the end of the 4th quarter after R&D is done to get any details on the kit.
I for one have been waiting for a R&P kit to come out that works with a column shifter and this one might be it; depending on the end design. As much as I would love to have R&P steering, I refuse to mutilate my car by removing the shock towers or relocate my shifter to the floor. So for someone like me, waiting for the end design and requirements, this might be perfect.

:hmmm:column shifter? My first Mav was an AOD on the column and it worked great.

    Hey Nick!

Can you please tell me how big the distance between the bar that holds the tierods and the r&p itself is? This black block!
Is there enough clearance from the bar to the things behind it if its more tha 50mm?
I have a r&p very similar to what you developed with unisteer, which made me a shop here, but i have big problems when turning left touching the attachment blocks like you, but alot earlier.
The shop made the block only 30mm and i want to at least duble it to 60-70mm to clear that blocking problem.
And how did you make the steering limiter to not get in contact with the tierod at the attaching block?
    Thanks alot for your help!!

Unisteer sent me a new block that was machined thinner plus I ground down some of the tie-rod where it was hitting the block. It no longer hits but it still has a little less travel when you turn left.

    Thanks for your quick answer!
But van you tell me the distance between tierod bar and r&p unit?
That would be very important to
Me to know! Its imposaible to tell from the pics...

And how is the kit about bumpsteer? Did you measure it already?
    Thanks
