So here's the sad story. Working on my Bronco and in a rush. Thank God the 5 year old was out with my wife as he usually "helps" me work on the cars which means he would have been inside the Bronco or in front of it in the garage as it was wet outside.

The Bronco was half in the garage with the hood up. I reached in and turned the key but went too far and the Bronco that I left in 2nd gear started up and took off dragging me with it. I had enough time to realize this was not going to be a happy ending as the Bronco slammed into my Virgin 73, 60K mile Maverick and pushed it through the back of the garage.

Lucky for me I only ended up with a dislocated shoulder and some huge bruises on my back and legs from the impact. Unlucky for the garage and maverick, they both need some work.

I had to use a floor jack to lift the Bronco off the hood of the Maverick. The core support and radiator are crushed from the Bronco parking on top of it. I have collectors car insurance with Farmers and they were great. They were going to total the Maverick but after they looked it over and saw how cherry it "was" they said they would go up to $6K in repairs.

Working with a great body shop in the area who would do the job at 1/2 their normal rate and buying all the parts needed from a lead off this Forum, we got to fix the car. The car and parts are in the shop now and I should have her back home in a couple weeks.

And here are some of the parts I scored thank's to this Forum and its members! Figured since she is no longer a virgin, I'm converting the front to a small bumper with a Grabber hood. Now if I could only find a rear spoiler!!!

Ouch. Been a year for smashed up cars. Good thing the back end had something else to push through the wall. That coulda been nastier.

Yea... Virgins make you feel good, but the non-virgins are more fun to work on. You have more options...

Are we still talking about cars? :hide:

    Ouch!!!

Don't you have agreed value insurance??? If Farmers was going to total it at $6K I'd be looking at one of the collector car ins co...

This is as bad as a friends son who left their 5.0 Stang out of gear while she ran into his work place to pick up his check... Yep, rolled down a little incline and smashed into their F-150 that he'd driven to work... This was with like 25 other cars/trucks around...

All this was just after they'd gotten the Stang back from a prev accident...

Yes, got the parts from Bill. Great guy, good selection of parts and overall a fair price.

That's the part that sucked. It is a collector car policy and I bought the car sometime ago for $6800 so at the time insured it for that. Never even occurred to me to up its value. I never thought anything could happen to it sitting in the garage. I don't think I have even put 100 miles on her over the past year.

Funny how things change. Now that it's been hit and being repaired, I don't mind driving the wheels off her. Just ordered some Torque Thrust wheels with 225/255 tires. Finally going to enjoy driving her!!!

Sorry to hear about your accident - man to have multiple cars that you own involved in the same episode is a bit much but you seem to have found some bright side to it all moving forward now :thumbs2:

This is why I won't have a remote start put on my Suzuki SX4 because of it being a 5 speed - the remote guy just tells me "leave it in neutral and you will be OK when you hit the start button" - I envision the day I leave it in a gear and the remote bypasses the neutral safety switch under the clutch and away we go :(

since its between 68-72 and he said he left it in second gear I would say its a manual 4 speed
I used to leave my old highboy in second gear. on the old trucks that is park. the neutral safety switch is the driver not turning the key all the way on
