mine looked about the same, except i did over the whole wheel well, inner well and infront of the wheel well...

I found, the larger the piece the better, on my drivers side i ended up with a couple smaller patches on my drivers side and it made a ton more work..bigger the better dave, have you got any of those quarter panel butt welding clamps? they are amazing for times like this. instead of trying to hold, tack, clamp & line things up. looks good though keep on going :) going to have much time to work on it around christmas here?

if i ever came across full NOS quarters id probably buy them for one day...repop were garbage, my one side was a repop panel cut up into 3 sections..junk, had to hammer/dolly for days to make it right.

After some thought, and some advice from people that know more than me....off it came! much easier to patch the trunk drop now.....

Looks worse than it is, the existing trunk drop has loads of seam sealer on it.

I used those clamps but it made the gap to wide between panels and welding was a little more difficult - now I use magnets that I bought from Harbor Freight but you can't weld too close to the magnets - it causes your welder to go spastic

The upper rear panel and the piece at the fender lip was from a used take off panel and the entire bottom was from the new stamped panel - I would have used a complete piece from the new panel but it didn't have a crisp 90 degree bend at the rear and wouldn't match up to the wheel well at all - really good quality stuff there

That was the best way to get at the drop forsure, doing the drops was probably tw easiest part of my build so enjoy it! I left about half inch of the drop and made a new one and butt welded it together... Fresh sheet metal is an amazing feeling! If you end up doing the driver side drop too, drill the hole before you weld it in. Lookin awesome though, keep up the good work.

Got the rust cut out, and the new piece fit, I'll fully weld it once I know it fits the quarter skin, I coated it with POR15 on the inside, so once it dries, it'll be more fitting, and welding.

Looks good! I need to do similar to the driver side for my car. I am fighting on getting a new replacement rear quarter. Just hate to spend 500$ on a quarter when I could put 500$ towards a transmission rebuild, or back half kit, or well a lot of other stuff haha.

I need to get the car roughed up and blocked a bit then primed.

I just need a few people to come over and help :/

I like it too. Neat trick there, Dave.

After that panel is all welded back in.. do you scrape and touch up the POR 15 that was damaged from the welding heat?
