Hello, i am new to this forum, i have mostly used it to get info on these great cars and to get some parts i needed too, last week i got a hold of a carb and an intake off a member for a great price, im liking this community so far, congratulations,

i have a 77 maverick pretty much stock with a 302, i stumbled into a little bit of money and i want to put it into the car, so i guess the title is self explanatory i want to know what is the best upgrade you did to the car, it can be from putting headers, upgrading suspension, or even putting an rpm counter or those gauges that measure temp etc.

    thank you for your time!

the most expensive upgrade so far has been the transmission I had it rebuilt and a 2500 stall that cost me $1850

but the best upgrade I think is the cam and headers brought the car from cool to WAY cool

Well i've modified too much on my car really..but i'd say the 3G Alternator & Taurus fan & fuse panel relocation are my top 3 and anyone can do those...plus i believe they have tech articles for them as well.

the powder coating most likely wouldve never came about if it werent for getting my engine bay sand blasted and the shop getting a little sand in my tranny the powder coating didnt cost me a dime wait I think $50 after paying for a trans flush cant remember what I paid for that

1st is Rod and Custom front suspension, with modern power steering, and disk brakes, front and back.

Not done, yet. And won't be if this nasty weather hangs around much longer.

2nd best mod was losing the stock 302 and putting in a roller cam and roller lifter 5.0, which REALLY woke up the car.

3rd was the rear end gear swap to 3.80 spool from 2.79 open.

The rest have just been mild upgrades, by comparison.

My total modification list is way to long to list but I really do like how the addition of 1967 Chevrolet Caprice rear tail lights came out :tiphat:

To many to list. Currently doing a full chassis on the car, and getting ready to order the rod and custom front end kit.

An inexpensive upgrade that makes a big difference in handling is the 1" Shelby drop.
