I am in the midst of moving the front bumper back on my 77 Maverick and I am wondering what is the best method or tool to use to trim back the rubber stone guard.
Lay tape along the edge in what ever width you would like to remove (ie; 1" tape) Once you have figured out where you want to be at, you can use a cutting disk to get up close to the line, then go back to get the fine edge with a file, or use a belt sander.
For me...I installed the inner shell on the car. Then by using the shell as a guide I cut the stone guard with a fine tooth blade with my jig saw. Remove bumper shell and attach it to the bumper. Install bumper.
