I'll have to add pics later. But she is at the farm. Long day. 360 miles so far and 79 more to get me home.

I was hoping it was 5A...I've never seen one either. I'd buy that car for a grand.

Today started at 5:00 AM when I got up loaded the truck and headed out to South San Antonio... Turned out to be about 140 miles from the house. I then had to back track about 100 of those miles to then detour out to College Station Tx where the car now resides... The last leg of the trip was the 79 mile trip home to Round Rock. IN total it was close to 420 miles of driving. I got home at about 4:00.

While unloading, my trailer caught something under the car and then the rear valence.

Looks like I own a Grabber and apparently one with a rare color. Now all I need is some time... and money...

Typical rust, depending on what you want, you should be able to find rust free sections, to weld in. Lots of good parts guys in Texas.

It would be neat to see a Marti Report for that car to see how rare the silver paint is.

Not a bad Idea... I've run Marti reports on a few of my mustangs. I may try to run one next week and see what it says. I've been meaning to get one run on my 69 Mach 1 also.

From your and others input here I take it this car has lots of potential.... but it may be pretty rare.

Now, before I get flamed here, I was seriously thinking about doing a V8 swap and perhaps even changing the white to black....

I do respect rare cars and will not alter this one if that's the case though. I've not been here long enough to know how the board feels about modifications and alterations like this.

It's your car and I say do what you want to it. Everyone has their own opinion but in the end it's yours that counts. If your worried about destroying a rare optioned car you could leave it the same color and make mods that are easily reversed.

Very few 100% stock Mavericks around, it's your car, do what you want. At one time I would have like to have seen it restored, but these days, some modifications make it a better car, and more enjoyable.

Not sure what I'll ultimately end up doing exactly. I also own a 1984 anniversary convertible mustang and an 86 SVO. Many people that are in those communities do not want you to make changes in them. Which I understand given their rarity but they can be pretty militant about it.

My 67 mustangs are all restorations and I'm building them as I want them. One a really nice potential show car the other a primer black beater.

Goal number one will be to replace gas tank and get it running. Last inspection was 11/11 so its only been off the road a few years.

I'll have to get out and start looking for parts... I know they are not as plentiful as the Mustangs that I'm used to but They do show up in salvage yards from time to time. Looking forward to the challenge.

Yeah but those are fairly rare cars, a low production color on a common vehicle isn't the same thing...

I get same for my not really so rare '88 Turbo Coupe T-Bird that I converted to 5.0(now 331)... I always hear " oh you ruined a rare car", "no I built what Ford should have" is my reply... Still part one out and they are vultures at a road kill, without much thought of maybe it should have been saved...

The thing I've learned as I've aged, Is there will always be another somewhere, you just have to find it, or spend the money to buy it, and Rare is not always an indication of value.

Never seen a Pewter Grabber either. Special order color I think it was. Neat.
