Shock tower ??

    Why would my shock towers have a worn through hole in them on both sides. It looks like the control arm bolts rubbed through. Is this common?

    I assume they are on the front and back of the tower. People would commonly cut holes in each side so they could easily install zerk fittings and grease the control arm bushings.

    most I've seen were blown out with a torch...really blown out...:yup:

    I wish I had taken pics. of all the ones I've seen. of all of them, I think Jeff's were the biggest...he had a pic. posted once.

    Back when I still had my towers, I tried to guess where the zerks were and put a hole saw through the tower, didn't get it centered, and then got the round files out. I had a big egg shaped hole before I could get the entire tip of the grease gun in there :biglaugh:

    mine were already cut...I took a...washer that was 7/8" ID and 2" OD...and welded it over the hole, then molded it in. got a rubber plug and popped it into the hole. it looked...store bought...:thumbs2:
