My tow rig: 69 Ranchero 500 351 2v. With a tow bar on the rusty parts car. Normally I borrow the company's trailer if I'm hauling a car across town. No big fancy truck for me.

I'm currently truck shopping. How do you like the Eco Boost package? What does the mileage do while towing?

    Thanks,

I can't say enough about how much I like about the Eco Boost. I trade every year and have had lot's of the 5.4's. Great trucks but they were always downshifting when pulling a trailer simply due to lack of torque. This thing is very impressive. I can set the cruise pulling my heavy trailer with race car and if I go up a hill and it down shifts it will only increase the rpm's to 2500. My 5.4's would jump the rpm's to at least 5 grand. Definitely get the 3:73 gears for the optimal package. Now that being said gas mileage for me is not any better than the 5.4. But I have a hard time keeping my foot out of it in daily driving because as they say: I am hooked on BOOST.

My son has one wit 3:55's and he took a trip to Colorado and got 20 MPG.

Thanks for the info. So far your son's mileage is about what others are telling me. I've had several 5.4 trucks and they always did around 12mpg. Not as good as my V10! Is your son's 4x4 or 2wd?

Ive been through my fair share of trucks but the trailer has remained the same its a 2000 carson open car trailer. I paid $1500 for it when it was just a few years old and was barely even used then now its seen TONS of tow duty and has hauled a 10000 pound pay load this year without a hint of trouble

Here is the only picture I can find of mine. A 2010 dodge ram 5.7L with whatever rusted out trailer I can get from Uhaul. Had the same trailer both trips to the Doll's.

Nice picture with Jean & Dale - I was there looking at your car the day before you picked it up and the Dolls did a super job on it

I invited a friend of mine to go with me to the Gathering in Debuque last year. He then offered his rig for the trip. He has a 28ft. enclosed race car trailer and tows it with his 2013 F350 Super Duty crew cab 4x4 turbo diesel. Talk about a tow rig. That thing will tow a train at any speed you want. You come to a hill, the boost goes up and you maintain speed. We got about 13 mpg most of the time.
