So after doing lots of research I have purchased the ACC carpeting and I will be installing it in the next few days when it gets a little warmer, I'm just making this thread to ask you guys what you did to install the carpets because some people glue them and some people don't, I'm wondering what's the best way too install carpet and if I don't use glue then how does the carpet stay in place? BecAuse
I have never glued carpet down. It stays in place because it is formed to the floor pan, the front seats bolt through it and it is held down on the edges by being tucked under kick panels, side panels and by the door scuff plates.
The seats will hold the carpet in place, plus being a molded carpet, the plastic backing is formed to the floor. Unless you have a heated garage, I'd wait till it's warm outside to let it sit for a day, before you trim it to fit.
What is mass backing? All the carpet I have installed had Jute backing. I used some Dynamat type backing under my carpet. How much it helps noise, I can't say - have nothing to compare it by. But, I wud rather have it; I am sure it helps w/ heat transfer frm ex sys. and under hood heat transfer.
Mass backing is Ethylene vinyl acetate 40mil thick. It adds moldability, sound deadening, and insulation.
