      This sending unit was thoroughly cleaned, wires re-soldered, float purchased and installed, and tested with an ohm meter. It is slightly out of spec but very close. Still have not put gas into the tank to test it on the gauge....but then again, I dont have a battery in the car either!

      After the tank was cleaned, sealed, painted, and installed it sat in the car 10 months but finally got gas added to it, and the gauge works accurately. The piece that is screwed to the back of the instrument cluster that is part of the gauge circuit had a broken spot weld on the bracket, so it just dangled. I soldered it back onto the bracket....I guess the short burst of heat didnt kill it.
