Help

I can't get my maverick to start. We got it started by putting gas in the carb at first. We replaced the fuel filter and pump. Also the ignition coil. Now it cranks but won't turn over.

Any update on the car? Has your problem been resolved?

@Bad1974maverick jerry my mechanic friend came over and he said I need a vacuum hose replaced and where the pickup coil plugs in he said to cut the plug off because the black wire came out and splice in a new plug and it will be good. He also said to replace a donut gasket on the engine and once we get that done he will come back over and set the timing. BUT it runs just need a few things.

yeah, that's a problem area for mavericks. The plugs rot and or crack and let moisture in. Corrosion begins and they fail. I replaced my entire plug when I replaced my distributor.

yeah working on making it my daily driver. it is my first car at the age of 19. I have new radiator, new gas tank, starter solenoid, voltage regulator, coil, ignition control module, fuel pump, fuel filter, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware kit. still need to get a starter, gas cap, rad cap, fluids, trans cooler lines, carb, and that is pretty much where we are right now. it is slow but it has been fun working on it. I got a nice guy gathering parts like a carb, gas cap, window cranks, maybe carpet, door panels and some other stuff. he is just making me pay shipping. so hopefully in the next 5-10 years it will be completely together. right now though I am going to drive it and leave the floor pans the way they are. hopefully with the new carb and starter it will fire up on its own.

@JosephBrand These cars are easy to get back started and going. You should have little problem.
