I have an 83 model 302 im using in my maverick. What teeth and balance flywheel will i have to use for this engine. Im using a c-4 with a stock converter. I have a 66 289 flywheel but i believe it is not the right balance flywheel. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Man thats right around the change over time for the balnces from the factory SHOULD be 50oz balance. I would really pull the oil pan on this one and check the crank and cross reference the crank numbers if I was not 100 percent sure. And number of teeth is going to matter on what bellhousing your using. Whats the C-4 out of and what bellhousing are you using? And no I do not believe that 289 flywheel is going to do you any good unless you figure out its a 28oz balance motor. and FYI for automatics its a flexplate for manuals its a flywheel
Yes, you can. But it'd be easier to remove the harmonic balancer and look at the engineering numbers on the backside of the balancer to make an I.D. and determination of the imbalance factor.
