I need some advice. I found a 70 Maverick with the description as follows:

Body - no rust, dents, or dings. Factory paint in very good condition. Small dent in rear bumper.
Interior - 1 small crack in drivers bench seat, other than that, excellent to include headliner, carpet, even has factory radio.
Engine - 154 K miles, no leaks, may need a new carb or at least the existing one rebuilt.
    Wheels - aftermarket mags

The lady wants 1500 for this. Is this a good deal??

Any input would be appreciated. :2cents:

    Thanks

Sounds like a pretty good deal. If you don't want it I'll take it! Where is the car? You didn't mention which flavor of I6 was in it and what trans. Do you know yet?

It probably has a 200 in it being a '70.

Sounds like a great deal to me if it's really in the condition described.

The 170 was the standard engine. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Its a 170 with the semi auto stick. Car is located in Portland, Or. I'm gonna try to pick it up Saturday. If all goes well, I'll post up some pics. Thanks for all the input.

Just curious, but how did you find this car? I am looking for one myself and would love to find a deal like this one. You know, one where the car is original, straight and rust free with a decent interior!! :bananaman

Gene, since I retired from the Army, I have ample time to sit behind my computer and search. Cant remember the particular site, as I have been to so many. I had looked at the car in September, but it wasn't practical at the time, and I am really suprised that it was still available. Also, I found my son's 77 on craigslist.org. Will try to upload a pic of the 70. Hope this works. JLB

Hey JBL did the photo from craigslist have the matress on the roof of the car. If so I thought about getting that one but figured I had better finish my 75 first.

Yeah, it was the one on craigslist. Just an FYI for all, (Gene cause your in AZ) there are a couple of Mavericks on a lot in AZ. http://www.desertgardenscars.com/ should take you to their website. They look to priced a little spendy though.

Mercurycruizers, if you didn't know already, there are a couple of Mavericks on craigslist.org in the Seattle area. No pics though.

Thanks for the website. I had to call to actually find out how to find the listing for the Mavs and then got online. They have two...a 1974 Grabber clone with a 302 and a 1973 six cylinder. Both priced just under $3000. You are right...I think they are a little pricey but not really what I am looking for. I'll keep looking.
