hey what's going on,i'm trying to find out about the avenger cylinder heads,is it a good head out of the box,say for a 30over 351w with 10.5.1 compression and a 600 + lift soild roller cam,or would i need more cubit inches like 393 or 408.if any one has try them let me know what you think.-morris- one more thing,i'm trying to make as near to 500hp as i can or better with just the 30 over 351w.-streetable-
"streetable" depends on how much you're willing to put up with. Would I put up with something that idles at 1400 RPM, is very loud, cold blooded, uses more fuel than a locomotive? Once or twice a week...and only for a mile or two, and that's it. A 408, 418, 427 stroker will get you there with less RPM (a lot less) and more torque all the way through the power band, but it can be done with only 357"...but it'll require about 7000-7200 RPM and a healthy camshaft to support it...that...and some nasty heads that will move at least 280 CFM. Victor Jr's will get the job done for sure, as will the AFR 205's. 205's are great heads but expensive. I'm not up on the Avenger heads (and honestly don't know many people who have tried them). Pro Comp....don't waste your money on them. I know someone who bought a set of them and went SLOWER than he did with factory iron heads...even after porting they were only marginally better.
how about afr 185 heads on a 357cu.in. motor will that get me near 500hp. with a soild roller cam around 600 lift.
