Does any one know if there is a kit to convert you mav into a powersteering one? I have been working on doing that to my 77 maverick 302 but i am not sure what to do about the powersteering pump since there is no what to attach it since autozone only sells it by its self? I need help:eek:

    Danny,

No...I don't believe there is a kit to convert a non-power steering car to a power one, even for a Mustang, let alone a Maverick. Most people take their power steering off and throw it away...so finding parts should not be too hard. The only parts I don't think you can buy new/remanufactured would be the brackets for the pump that you are talking about. I would post a message in the classified section and I am pretty sure someone can help you out.

Other than that you will need the pump itself, the control valve, the slave cylinder, the hoses from the pump to the control valve, the two hoses from the control valve to the slave cylinder and the proper center link for the steering linkage. You can still buy all of that stuff. You don't even technically need to change the steering gear, although the ratio is probably different. Assuming you can do the work yourself, it is not really too hard. A lot of people really hate the Mav power steering...but I found with all new parts and a tight steering gear that I like it just fine :) Good luck!
