I've heard a few talking about this before. So what do you guys think? Is the Maverick a Coupe or Fastback?

I would have to say Fastback. :yup:

Judging from the sheer number of people who ask me, and my rear-view mirror vantage. It's a fastback. :]

    I would...

say coupe since it is technically a passenger car.

Definately a fastback. I was very unpleasently surprised the first time I ever looked out my rearview mirror. I've gotten used to it now though.

A Maverick is not a coupe, it's a sedan (all of them). It does have a fastback appearance to it as well, with the way the back window angles into the rear deck...

Of course that was for 74. I checked a 71 Grabber and it's a sedan :49: ...but check out the latest NADA value on a 71 Grabber. Guys, the values of our cars are getting on up there!!! If you have a good one, better hang on to it.

Ford calls it a sedan so I'll go aslong with that.

You're exactly right Dennis but I don't agree with them on it. I would consider the 4-door a sedan but going by body styles on all other cars, the 2-door car should be called a coupe (or a fastback), of course that's my opinion. Sedan just sounds like a family car, which would fit a 4-door style much more than a 2-door. I think I'll call my contacts at Ford and have them change it. :D Only thing is the owner of our dealership is as high as I know...wonder if he can do it on his own?

Never pay attention to those, the one for my Mach 1 I think it says it's a 4 door wagon. :16suspect :90:

    I agree.

    I have always been told a Sedan was a 4-door, a Coupe is a 2-door, and a Fastback is a 2-door with the back at a paticular angle. :)

Back in the 50's and 60's the sedans were the cars with a post between the frond & back side windows. If it didnt have a post, it was a hard top.
