Does anyone know where I can get some detailed specs on the 200CID engine that came in a 76? I want details like horsepower, torque, valve information, carburator information, etc...

    specs

I have an old college auto tech book in the back it has specs for most of the 60's &70's cars. It claims that the mav with the 200cid was rated at 78 hp@3300rpm for the auto trans and 81hp@3400 rpm both are NET BRAKE HORSEPOWER
A good place to get more info is go to the library and get a CHILTONS manual.

That's so wierd, it seems to have at least the equivalent of 100hp compared to the imports I'm used to driving.

But then again a 1980 Ford LTD with a V8 only has 125hp, but it stills peels out, and a much lighter car, a 1993 mazda 626 has almost as much power, but won't even come close to peeling out.

My book only goes up to '73. The '73 200 cid was rated at 91 hp @ 4000 rpm, 154 ft lbs torque @ 2200 rpm. The 200 cid motor that came in my '70 was rated at 120 hp but about the same torque.

In comparing "seat of the pants" power you need to look at low rpm torque more than peak horsepower. One time I did a Desktop Dyno run on the 6 cylinder just for the heck of it. The torque curve was almost flat from idle to 4000 rpm.
