I am trying to see if anybody would be able to help me in locating my first car. It was a 1974 Comet 2dr 6cyl with an original 56k miles. I got the car from a friend who's family had purchased new in 75. I was a 15 year old with no mechanical skills and was unable to repair accident damage or mechanical issues the car had. I ended up selling it to a man who worked for a rival company to JET VAC inc. in Mechanicsburg, PA. The last I saw the car, it was in Camp Hill at a service shop about 4months after selling it. I cannot recall the name of the man who I sold it to. I am deploying to afghanistan soon and would like to attempt to purchase the vehicle back when i return. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. -Bill Also, I shold add, that it has been almost 10years since selling the car, I know it's a long shot of finding, but one can hope.
any pictures, color or any other way to ID? I work for ward trucking, I`m outa pgh but can get the guys in camp hill to put feelers out! THANKS FOR SERVING!!!
I just wanted to wish you the best of luck on finding the car. I was lucky enough to buy back my first car, a '72 Grabber a few years ago. OK, it did not take much luck as I sold it in 1980 to a friend's mother who passed it on to my friend and I got it back from him so I always knew where it was all this time. I got it in '76 from the original owner who was also a family friend so I know the history of this car from day 1. I am still in the process of working on it but at least I have it "home" with me. Good Luck!
I do not need the vin but will need the name and address of a person that owned or owns the car at one point in its life. I own a collection agency so we have the tools to find things like this. You can PM the information to me instead of listing it for everyone to see. Ben
It is yellow with the tan and cream interior, yellow wheels with crome center caps. I have no information on the car anymore, I didn't think to keep the documents i had for it when i was a teenager. I do know the guy who i sold the car to worked at a sewer maintenance company located behind captial city car wash on hartzdale drive in Camp Hill.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2399183 This is as close as I can find to what the comet I had once owned looked like.
Just went through this looking for my '73 Z-28 from high school. Basically, you need one of three things to find "the car I had way back when"... a VIN number a lotta luck a lotta money I did not have any of these...which is ultimately how/why we ended up with our current Maverick
I have a general area of where the car is, but from the damage it had to the body, it could be any color now, I am heading home on leave in a coulple weeks and am going to try to find the guy and see if he would be willling to sell her back to me once i retrurn from my upcoming deployment
I'm glad to hear that it worked out for you finding your old car. I'll have the money before I return from deployment, it's just I have no VIN and the luck is to be determined
At the time that you owned the car did you have it insured? Contact the insurance company that you used back then and they should be able to supply you the VIN through their records. Good Luck
was never insured or registered in my name, the car wasn't on the road when I had it due to body damage and faulty brakes.
The original owner said he does not have any information on the car anymore. When I go home on leave in a couple weeks, I'm going to try to stop by the auto repair shop where I last saw the car and see if they have any information on it.
