Set out tonight after a tough day at work. Taking the Mav out to the farm for some video and photos and so my daughter can ride our horse. Looked forward to it all day. Dusted off the Mav, fired it up and let it warm up. Off we go. UH OH. No brakes. Damn pedal went right to the floor. Nothing. Was fine when I parked it on the weekend. Popped the lid off the master and the rear half was bone dry. A nice slick of brake fluid down the firewall. Master is just over a year old I think. I really hate rebuilds. So Have one set aside at Carquest for me tomorrow. New this time since they had it in stock. Only had a rebuild available last year and I was in a rush. I should have known better after all the rebuilt cylinders I've replaced at work. Oh well at least it failed sitting in the driveway. Took all of about 5 minutes to pull it off the car when we got home at 10pm. I love working on this car.:)

So heres my list of vehicle repairs this week aside from the Mav.

New tires for the 300m 245/45/18 Z rated. Thats factory on this car and they should be a ton of fun to install tomorrow. NOT.

Jeep almost overheated on my wife and kids on the Queenston bridge crossing into the US to Fantasy Island park this week. Sprung a leak at the stat housing. I told her to take the Jeep cause the car has a shifted belt.

Jumped in the Jeep tonight after the Mav no brake thing and the cluster is dead with the lovely NO BUS message in the odometer. Happens once or twice a year for a key cycle since 2002. Of course it happens tonight.

Almost forgot the mother in laws Sebring fired a CEL on for a internal pcm ram failure. Thats on my list for next week I guess.

Cant wait till this week is over. Its almost funny.:rofl2:

Did have a good time at the farm though tonight. No mosquitoes and nice and cool. Horse was a handful in the cool air, lots of energy but she can handle it. I wasnt about to get on him after this week.:naughty: It hurts to fall that far.:dizzy:

    Pic from last year.

We went through that first week of July. Didnt even cool off much at night. Been a very hot month up here. Good news is my pool is hovering around 86 and getting lots of use.

Well finally after 8 days I got the new master installed. What a busy week. My daughter gave me a hand. This master came with adapters for the lines which I didnt like so we had to remove the two lines and put new fittings on them. It was my oldest daughter this time. (14) I took her to the farm to ride last night on teh condition she helped get the car done today. She did quite well considering shes turning into a girly teenager but thats OK. She is a girl after all. She was a big help guiding the master while I got that brake switch installed. Bit of a pain when you cant get under the dash and do it by feel. Its all installed and she learned how to flare brake lines, install a master and bleed the brakes. Thats more than some guys I know. :) Its nice she gets an idea what I do for a living. She was kind of shocked when I told her that this car is a breeze to work on compared to the new ones at work. I have a feeling she wont be a blue collar worker.LOL. The car stops great and we went for a nice road test. Got into it pretty good on the brand new asphalt behind my house. IT actually hooked up rolling in first. I can honestly say thats the first time I really got a feel for what the car can do in first. It usually just breaks loose and I have to pedal it. Should be all good to go for tomorrows meet and greet at Hooters.:thumbs2::thumbs2::thumbs2:

I'll take some pics tomorrow. I painted the master with a duplicolor Cast Iron high heat engine paint with ceramic. Looks great. Its a very nice paint and actually looks like cast iron. We used it on my service writers 850 BMW for the calipers and supports. Thats where I got the idea to do the master with it.

Don't write off the "she's a girl" thing. I predict in 25 plus years she be planning an all day road trip to help her son find a car to work on as a mom/son project, just like she did with her dad.

I use to help my dad. I wouldn't trade it for the world. :)

    Nice to hear.
Shes just going through the girly teenager thing right now. Getting more concerned with her appearance etc. She still doesnt have a problem getting dirty at the farm working or riding but she really is growing up fast and changing. Pretty soon the boys will be coming around I guess. Hope they catch me when I'm cleaning the guns. LOL.
