I recently picked up a 89 302 EFI motor that came out of a mustang. it's a H.O. motor that i am going to run with a carb. my question: on the drivers side about 3/4 of the way back there is a hole that falls into the oil pan. at first i thought it could be a dip stick port. but now im thinking it's a oil temp sensor port.

if that is what its for, can someone get me a part # or better yet, a picture of what should go there? and any info for a price and or where to locate said part would be great!

    Thank you all in advance,
    Rick

its an oil level sensor port. you need to change the oil pan to a front sump one. you will also need a front sump oil pick up.

the hole starts in the side of the block, not the pan.

That's the dipstick tube hole. Lots of ways to plug it. You will also need a steel geared distributor to match the roller cam. And swap the front accesories, down to & including the timing cover to convert to a std rotation waterpump.

If I remember correctly, when you put the old pan on the newer block the oil pan and gasket will block that dipstick hole.

Also if you are going to run a Mechanical fuel pump, don't forget to put the old fuel pump eccentric onto the new block.
