I am assuming you mean this one? http://www.racingjunk.com/exec/ca/view/579460/71-Maverick--Race-Car-Chevy-Powered-Trades.html
Looks like a chevy man couldn't afford the camaro he wanted. 6 grand for a roller with a decent body and an 8 point cage isn't a terrible deal. I'd try to talk him down to $4500 or there abouts. What's so wrong with the car? I would think the cage and "tube" chassis would be worth 3 grand or so and the rear end would be worth another $1000.
If you think that is a good deal well look me up I have a rolling chassis that has sub-frame connectors, the 4 leaf spring rear end NHRA 8 point roll gage, fiber glass seats, fuel cell, etc though it had a electrical fire and I am currently going to repaint it and put the new wiring harness in I will let that go for a fraction of that price! That is what I am referring to 6,000 is WAY over priced, at least in my book. Heck I will be up there this weekend I may just stop by to look at it.
It's not nice to tease!!! I'm just going off of what it cost my brother to have his car done. Of course they did a 12 point cage in his car back halved it, put ladder bars and a 9" under it, and redid the floor. I think it cost him $3,000 for all of that. It also took the guy 9 months to do it!! He still needs to run wires, fuel lines, brakes lines etc and that should run another $1,000 by the time he's all said and done. That's why I was thinking $4,000-$4500 for a roller wouldn't be a bad deal. $6,000 is too much, but he probably overpriced it because he knew guys like me would want to talk him down.
I have not heard from him, his buddy stopped by and said he was coming, but I am tired of the false promise thing so I am moving on with it to sell it
