I have a question for you guys. I haven't been in the loop lately for Maverick prices, and I don't know what their current value is. I have a '74 Grabber that I've done a ground-up restoration on. I'm heading back to college to get my BSN, and tragically, She's got to go . She sat in a field for around 14 years, after which time I bought her off Ebay from a guy who found her. The floor pans are (magically) completely intact, and the body is straight except for a couple holes around the trunk lid lip that I'm going to repair. She needs a paint job, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time or money to do it myself, which was my plan. She's got a rebuilt 302, with barely a few thousand miles on it. I put '71 'Stang front discs on her, and since I had her stripped to parade rest, I've painted, cleaned, repaired, and fixed virtually every part on her. And I do mean every part. Interior: new carpet, floormats, headliner, weatherstripping, dash pad, steering wheel, seat belts, etc. Every surface was cleaned, scuffed, and repainted. I redid the interior to charcoal grey and black, installed white face gauges, B&M slap shifter, tachometer... you get the idea. Engine: more radical cam, edelbrock intake manifold, new carb, higher ratio lifters, oil pump, Victor water pump, 110v alternator, fan, belts, etc. New brake lines, fuel lines, shocks from/back, springs front/back, all season tires, Centerline wheels, 9" Ford rear end, new brakes front/back, master cylinder, fuel pump, radiator, tranny cooler, rebuilt C4 tranny (by Paul S.), so on, so forth. She's virtually a new car, from top to bottom. I painted and rubber-spattered the undercarriage, trunk and engine compartment as well. There's more but it's a really long list, and this is mostly the gist of it. My question is this: What is a reasonable price to ask? I know I won't get back what is in her for sure, there's no way. But what do you think might be a price that would be most appropriate? I'd love to know if it's even worth trying to sell her at all. I thought about parting her out, but there's no way I'd be able to rip her apart. I couldn't do it. Thanks a bunch!
Gotta have pictures. O.K......found some: I think you would get a "project" price for it....since it is not "done", but you probably knew that. I would say maybe $3000 to $4000.
I say thee nay; if what you’ve done with it is true I think its way past the project part and worth a lot more than $4,000. And it's in the finishing stages waiting for someone to do just a little more maybe you. I wouldn’t part it out, if I were you if nothing else I'd keep it maybe just all primered.
I can see you did alot of wook there. and it looks great. I think you should get it painted. and sell if for no less than $20,000 I think you really know what you put into it and theres somone out there that will pay for it. I would love to buy cars like that all day long for 4 grand.
Ok, really. I've seen advertizied some project cars around here. they wanted about 8-10 grand. for an unfinished car. that's canadian too. good luck with it.
Thats a very very nice car easily worth $4,000 but painted it still wouldnt even touch $12,000. I think you might of over paid for your maverick?
Here in Canada its alittle different aswell. We don't have the same numbers of cars as you do. with salt on the roads things get a little rusty. our dollars are different too. I find the car values are a little more here. like us $500.00 beater = Can $800.00 beater in can rusty 6 is about 1500-2500. grabber v8 2500-4000. Anything worked on and looks great is going to be over 5 grand. That being said. there is not a lot of people going to pay more. there are more options for people to spend their money on. I think it is more than fare to ask a price that totals the cost of materials that have gone into the car. most often labor is lost.
If I had the money or my visa paid off I'd pay $4000 without thinking twice about it but you and I know it's worth more KEEP IT! You'll regret it down the road.
